Kalesh Kumar is a public procurement professional with more than 20 years of experience in various capacities with the World Bank, Government of India development programs, UK DFID and UNICEF. For the last 10 years, Kalesh is working with the South Asia region office of the World Bank and is currently performing the role of Capacity Building Coordinator- Procurement, Governance Global Practice. In this position, he is coordinating various South Asia regional and global initiatives in knowledge management and networking. Kalesh has worked with all countries in South Asia region, Egypt, Indonesia and the USA.
Kalesh Kumar has lead the establishment of www.procurementinet.org, World Bank’s knowledge and networking platform in public procurement in 2014 and continues to manage it as the Task Team Leader.
Kalesh Kumar has been involved in procurement and procurement advocacy, advisory and analytical tasks in many countries. His research papers are published in various international and national journals and reports including UN Annual Procurement Reports and World Bank publications.
After graduation in Economics, Kalesh Kumar pursued his post-graduation in Business Administration (MBA). He has completed Certificate Program in Public Procurement (CPPP) and Certificate Program in Governance and Anti Corruption. He has received Honorary Fellowship from Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM) in 2013 for his contributions in public procurement.
